The OP in in this Reddit post decided to donate her kidney to her elderly mother who was on dialysis after poorly managing her type 2 diabetes and hyper-tention.
After a year of living with one kidney it turns out the remaining kidney cannot handly the work and it’s in the early stages of failing.
Apparently the kidney she gate her mum failed because she didn’t take her immuno suppressants as prescribed. She is now back on dialysis and transplant waiting list.
